Setting out to fill a void in the Finger Lakes Region as the first black owned circus production company, catering to special events with both ground and aerial circus acts. Cirque Goddess Production is a proud BIPOC Women owned business based in Danby, NY.

Backstory

Shekinah Williams, known as “Goddess” was an artist from birth, art is the light of Shekinah’s existence. She began cheer at the age of 10 and cheered throughout middle school, while engaging in after school community programs and also joining her high schools marching band plaything the trombone. In 2017 Shekinah discovered the Trenton Circus Squad through close friends. Despite falling involve with circus, it remained as a side art while continuing dance in high-school specializing in Modern/Jazz/Majorette/Hip-Hop. Circus has played a major role in Shekinah’s development, In 2020, she produced her very own circus show called change. We are no stranger to 2020. The show was meant to capture all the unpleasantness of 2020 and it was a success. The following year she produced a follow up show Change 2: We are the change which was meant to keep our youth loud and uncensored in injustice and bravery for life in general. After being given the opportunity to direct Change, she never looks back. Since then she’s volunteered in other shows and was hired to help direct senior thesis. Soon after, Shekinah moved to Ithaca Ny to produce a show called “Forbidden Fruit” which captured the essence of body autonomy and sexual freedom in your body with her longtime circus troupe. The following year Shekinah moved to Ithaca, NY and directed another show “The Making Of Self", this show in particular was very meaningful to the life we live, and to the life we want to live and how we see ourselves through community. The same year Shekinah was blessed with team “Cirque Goddess Production” that helped her open her very own production company. Shekinah is not only a performer but also a director and teacher, coaching all things circus for 7 years. When it comes to her craft, she wants it to not be just about skill, but about passion and supporting the world of Black art. Shekinah is the definition of the beauty of life’s work. Her goal: to create a community where freedom is all we have as she strives to be a public figure and circus phenomenon.
